Tesla did furloughed some of its workers some weeks back but then announced today, Friday that those who were furloughed will still remain out of work for another week which means postponing the plans of resuming normal operations on May 4th right at its San Francisco assembly plant according to new reveals in an internal email.
“For furloughed employees, unless you are contacted by your manager about a start date, you will remain on furlough until further notice, at least for another week,” the company’s in-house counsel Valerie Capers Workman said in the email, which was sent to employees and seen by Reuters.
The electric car giant suspended operations at its Fremont, California plant way back since March 24th. And the new extended resumption date comes day after health officials from San Francisco county, alongside other five Bay Area counties made it known they would revise the “Shelter-in-place” measures which are expected to expire on Sunday with work expected to begun by Monday, May 4th.
With the new orders, the restrictions will remain in place and also extend them through within the month of May with limited easing for those small number of low-risk activities which obviously doesn’t require large gathering. When contacted, Tesla declined to comment upon request about this activity.

The company furloughed its non-essential workers and implemented salary cuts during the shutdown of its US Production facilities due to the outbreak that caused the many cities in the country to be shut down in order to curb off the spread of the dangerous disease, COVID-19.
