The new Ford PAPR is a powerful shield meant to protect healthcare workers who are fighting off the Coronavirus pandemic at the frontline. The device comes with a hood, a hose and a respiratory compartment which has filters and fans and its powered by batteries which can be found over-the-counter.
The device is based on a collaboration between the automaker, 3M and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and its already being approved for use during the pandemic as an hospital in Seattle had already gotten its own units of the device. Ford wants to help in the fight against the pandemic as it had made other gears and tools which includes the production of some two million face shield and other protective gowns.
