Electric cars are the new norm and Kia is one of those making EVs fun again. The company’s latest addition is the Niro compact SUV. The car is based on the previous Niro lineup but remodelled to support either hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric powertrains.
The new Kia Niro is expected to be available by 2022 and will potentially fix a number of complaints in the current models.
Even though we call it redesigned, the car doesn’t particularly look new or “futuristic” as most will think but it still looks very much like your average Kia compact SUV with the tiger-nose grille design which has continued to evolve over the years.
There are noticeable changes around the side and a side rear pillar that incorporates the car’s rear lights.

And on the inside, there is a shift to a single central display and a driver display with a dash that falls to one side.
The interior isn’t what you’ll consider minimal due to the number of touch-buttons here and there and the steering wheel looks pretty much traditional.
The door’s interior has matching slopes with the dash giving it a uniform look that showed Kia designers paid attention to the details here.
As for the configurations, nothing is made public just yet but there are reports that the electric version of the car will have its charging port at the front right of the car but apart from that, there isn’t anything spectacular about the car’s details that we know of.
“The all-new Kia Niro makes it simple to practice a sustainable lifestyle with its eco-friendly materials, advanced technology, and electric powertrains while it also fulfils the practical needs of customers,” said Ho Sung Song, president and CEO of Kia.
