One obvious thing you don’t want any corporation to meddle with is your data. The internet had gotten so radical lately with companies buying and stealing people’s data. We’ve heard of how Facebook doesn’t entirely care as they claim to care about your data and information. Google is another notorious giant that preys on your data every now and then. Sometimes your information can be used against you or you can be hacked and believe me, people have lost their valuables due to the fact that their information fell into the wrong hands. You don’t want that do you?

Google Chrome browser might be a great tool for surfing the web and working online. With the help of third party plugins, you can make your Chrome stricter…even set up lock password to keep intruders away but if you are really strict about your cyber safety, you might want to go extra miles to get this done. Which is how the Brave Browser is disrupting the internet browser industry at large.

The browser is built to block out trackers and other third-party cookies which are there to monitor all your activities as you surf through the cyberspace. If anything at all, the Brave Browser gives you the power over what you do and block whatever it is you don’t want which ranges from ads and cookies from the likes of Facebook and Google login buttons.

You might feel that is a bad move. After all, we all surf websites and get information for free all over the internet. And considering the fact that majority of website owners supports the growth of their websites via Ads publishing, blocking ads on websites will definitely hurt revenue making.

But with the Brave Browser, that’s another story entirely. The Startup has an incentive which allows website visitors to anonymously contribute to the website they are visiting. Such contribution will then be received in the form of cryptocurrencies by the website owner ones they opt in for the system. That is really threatening to services like the Google AdSense. Or, you can as well allow ads and tracking in Brave’s settings if you can’t be bothered. But the cost of being tracked is losing control of your privacy.

The Brave Browser application is currently available on major Operating systems such as Windows, the MacOS, Android and iOS. The same foundation used for the Google Chrome is what the Brave Browser is built right on and that gives the Brave Browser the ability to utilize add-ons and Themes that works the same on the Google Chrome browser which sounds really great.

So if you’re considering contributing to your favorite websites and content creators, here’s how to set that feature up.

For desktop and mobile, Brave blocks trackers.Brave

Start by controlling what the Brave Browser blocks

Yes, as said earlier, the Brave Browser makes you the master in control of your internet experience because by default, the browser blocks all ads, trackers, third-party cookies all which tracks all your behaviors right across different social network websites (Social buttons, logins and so on) and all third-party fingerprints which tracks you by creating a unique profile for you using your browser and computer settings. This shows you how much insecure the internet can be but Brave Browser attempts to curb all those by enforcing such strict approach for information protection.

You can so lessen those strict protections by doing the follow:

1. From the Brave menu, click on the Preferences menu.

2. In the Settings panel on the left, click the Shields icon.

3. Via the pop-up menus to the right of Ad control, Cookie control, and Fingerprinting protection, select the level of protection you want.

4. Click Social media blocking to control whether to allow Google and Facebook login buttons, embedded Twitter tweets and LinkedIn embedded posts.

5. If you want finer control, under Additional Settings, click Privacy and security.

6. Here, you can adjust control services the browser uses, such as a predictive service to help autocomplete searches and URLs.

In the browser preferences, you can mind your privacy settings.Brave

Contribute to your favorite websites and content creators

Brave, the company behind the Brave Browser tries to be as considerate as possible. Since we all hate intrusive ads and pop-up that takes us to endless loops of annoying ads that is shoved down our throats while continuously opening multiple windows in a single browser, we definitely wants that to stop but then the Brave Browser is just a browser…A Robot that wants to rip out those horrible user experiences.

But in the process, good websites might have to suffer as well because most website publishes ads. But as a way of making things fare, Brave developed the Brave Rewards which is a program that lets you earn tokens by watching Brave-selected ads which then automatically contributes the revenue in the form of cryptocurrency to the websites you visit…sounds nice?

Well, here is how to opt in:

1. Click the hamburger menu (Three parallel lines) over on the right of the toolbar and select Brave Rewards.

2. Click Yes, I’m In.

3. On the Brave Rewards page, you can set up and adjust your participation in the revenue program:

  • For ads, you can adjust how many ads to view per hour.
  • For auto-contributions, you can control how much to contribute each month and set a minimum threshold for time spent on a page before the site is rewarded with a contribution.

4. In addition to earning tokens through your web activities, you can add your own cryptocurrency to your account to contribute to sites.

Synchronize bookmarks across your phone and computer

Another sweet thing about the Brave Browser is the feature that let’s you sync bookmarks across your mobile and desktop. While this feature already exists in other bigger browsers like the Google Chrome for example, this feature would at least give you a reason to switch to Brave Browser considering the fact that it offers additional security measures to keep you safe online.

Mind you, the bookmark syncing though is still in beta, and it takes fiddling to set up. But if you don’t mind tinkering, it’s a handy way to have your bookmarks in sync.

1. Click the hamburger menu over on the right of the toolbar and select Sync.

2. Click Start a new Sync Chain and then choose whether you want to sync to a mobile or desktop device.

3. If you chose Computer, you will see a string of words that Brave calls the Chain Sync Code. Go to the desktop device you want to sync with, navigate to the sync settings in Brave, click I have a Sync Code and enter the chain sync code from the first device.

4. If you chose Phone/Tablet, you will see a QR code. On your phone or tablet, navigate to the sync settings in Brave, tap the Scan Sync Code button and scan the QR code back on the first device.

Not completely scary, but you enter the multi-word sync code here.

And that’s all. You can be rest assured that Facebook and other data hungry web services aren’t behind your footsteps as you surf from one website to the other. The security guarantee is what sets the Brave Browser apart and just like DuckDuckGo which is the alternative Google search engine, if not better, the Brave Browser offers really outstanding performances to users from different places all over the world. After all, the internet is like a common ground where we all meet from across the globe.
