In its attempt to go Green, Lexus released the UX 300e which was a car developed for its Chinese and European customers but the automaker is reportedly planning on making another electric vehicle come 2022 even though there haven’t being an official name for the vehicle just yet.
According to a recent report by the British Magazine Autocar, the next Lexus EV will be in a crossover design form and will be built on the e-TNGA platform which was developed to underpin a large number of Toyota and Subaru models.
This will also become Lexus’ attempt to globalize its EV sector and make the vehicle available in more markets than its first attempt on the EV market.
Speaking of what to expect, some presumptions has it that the vehicle will be the same size as the NX which till date is one of Lexus’ best-selling models even though the forthcoming EV’s design aesthetics will be reportedly inspired by the LF-Z Electrified concept which the company introduced back in March of 2021.
So we should be expecting to see a spindle grille which is common in Lexus cars nowadays but this will merely be for aesthetics purposes rather than being an actual air intake since this is going to be an electric vehicle.
According to the report by Autocar, the crossover will be closely related to the production version of the Toyota bZ4X concept which also ride on the e-TNGA architecture.
The car should also be an all-wheel-drive and the performance of the vehicle would also be more pronounced and could include some autonomous driving technology to fit in with modern-day EVs which have already taken to the street riding on this technology.
And as for the time of release, Autoblog believes the car could debut towards the end of the year 2022 which mean you might be able to get yourself one by 2023 – at least if everything we say is completely within the plans of Lexus because the company is said to be planning on releasing as much as 10 new electric models (including hybrids) by the year 2025 so Lexus is on the race to deliver more vehicles to hit this milestone within four years.
