The world most popular ride hailing company Uber is said to be reinventing itself especially getting rid of money-losing and peripheral aspects of tis businesses as the company is one of those hit by the COVID-19 pandemic due to the social distancing measures put in place by world governments.
Axios reported on Wednesday that the company’s flying taxi division Uber Elevate would be offloaded. While nothing much is said about the supposed sales this will definitely put some cash back into the company’s pocket in order to further push its on-land ride hailing business while the world struggles to get out of the bad situations of the coronavirus.
The potential buyer of the Uber Elevate is Joby Aviation and the company is known for making small vertical-take-off-and-landing (VTOL) aircraft but nothing much is known about the company
Does this sale mean that flying taxi services are on the horizon and that you should starting dusting off all your Fifth Element cosplay gear? Probably not, but it will be interesting to see where this all goes.
Uber reps didn’t immediately return request for comment.
