Based on the obligations of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Honda recalls 1.4m cars in the United States over software malfunctioning which happened in no fewer than 737,233 units of the Honda Accord model that were made between the year 2018 and 2020. The software glitch includes the inoperative rearview camera, exterior lights, windshield wipers and defroster.

The situation has been described as the “intermittent or continuous disruptions in the communication between the Body Control Module (BCM) and other components,”

The problem will thus be rectified from January 18th at authorized dealer stations at no charges to the customers. Also the issues are said to be fixed within the period of 20 minutes whereby the dealer should be able to flash the body control module with new software that would make things work as they’re supposed to.

Aside those aforementioned problems, the Japanese automaker is also recalling another 268,652 units of the CR-V mini SUV made within the period of 2002 to 2006due to power window master switch which may fail. The reason for this is because the company is said to have received some 16 warranty claims which involves fire, seven field reports also involving fire and also some 87 reports of thermal events which relates to fire.

This same issue is causing the recall of other cars but with different nameplates all which includes the likes of the Accord made within the year 2013 to 2015, the Civic Hybrid from 2007 to 2014, the Acura ILX from 2013 to 2015 and also the Acura ILX Hybrid made in 2013.

220,000 plus 210,000 equals 430,000 vehicles that feature drive shafts with “improperly adhered protective coating.” In the Salt Belt States, de-icing agents used to maintain the roadway may corrode the drive shaft, and in turn, this condition may lead to the drive shaft breaking under load.

The first report about a broken drive shaft of the Acura ILX was first reported to the American Honda Motor back in Nov. 2017 and the car maker has received an excess of 152 warranty claims and 10 field reports within the period of the first report to Nov. 2020 which is a 3 years time frame.
