Porsche are iconic not for their designs but most importantly, their speed. Th German automaker is synonymous with speedy cars and that is where the race-specs 911s come in. This model was introduced way back since the 90s and has gotten drivers the enjoyable experience which is one thing about the luxury brand – the feelings.
The new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 2021 model is based on the current 992 generation which brings the model look and feel with some high-tech advancement to the car with the Porsche-esque design aesthetics. With the new design, the new car measures about 75-inches (1,902 mm) in width which exceeds rear width of the earlier model by 1.1-inches (28mm)
Then proceeding underneath the car is the well optimized chassis which is a reminiscent of the 991 RSR’s double-wishbone front layout which uses the Uniball bearings that protects the new adaptive dampers from lateral forces allowing for a much better handling when going on a high speed.
Then I can’t but mention the aerodynamic design allowing for a better air-intake much like your jet but with a much different engine. It feature the under-wing airflow which allows for a stealth movement through the air reducing the drags on the car.
This car is basically made for speeds and that is how it differ much from it’s predecessor. Take the fact that the new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 2021 uses an aluminum-heavy construction with only 30% of the structure being made of steel compared to the previous model which is predominantly steel body.
Then other important parts such as the engine hood and rear wing uses carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic. The front hood includes the exit-air duct with a central air intake which is made of aluminum in order to reduce the repair costs just in the case of crash.
Then the windows are made from lightweight polycarbonate which is built with hard-coating to enhance scratch-resistance which altogether boost its durability.
Porsche also included a removable escape hatch which is mounted on the roof in order to comply with the latest FIA safety regulations. But there are so many interesting things on the outside such as the wheel, and its braking system but proceeding to the inside, you’re immediately welcome with a much improved cockpit.
First, the car’s seat can now be adjusted in two height settings then there is a wide range of padding thicknesses which is meant to ensure you are perfectly seated within the car.
Then you get an adjustable steering wheel which is well designed with multifunctional buttons all made out of carbon-fiber.
I can’t but mention the inclusion of a 10.3-inch central console for a much more intuitive display of important information with a rotary knot that can be used to switch between brake balance.
Power is provided by a naturally aspired 4.0-liter, water-cooled flat-six engine, which develops 510 hp (375 kW). It uses a dry-sump lubrication system to ensure optimal operation through high-speed corners.
It also use a single throttle butterfly system that has a two resonance flaps for a much quicker response to acceleration with a cool Bosch MS 6.6 electronic engine management system.
You also get three different exhaust systems which are made to conform with all racing series regulations which is also meant to enhance the engine.
The engine is connected to a six-speed dog-type sequential gearbox via a single-mass flywheel and a three-plate sintered metal racing clutch. The shift barrel actuator is controlled by a new electric servomotor, which replaces the old pneumatic unit enabling faster gear changes and live diagnoses.
The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 2021 is all about speed
Starting next season, the new Porsche GT3 Cup will take part in various competitions like the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup as well as the national Carrera Cups in Germany, France, Asia, and Benelux. It’s also scheduled to debut in North American competitions for the first time.
The year 2021 seems to be a good year ahead and if you love the speed, then you should be ready for whatever when the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup is finally out.
