The new iPad Pro 2020 is here and we’re excited about it as it finally packs with really interesting features which makes it a truly premium tablet but then it is really pricey though Apple wants to substitute this as your hybrid computer which isn’t really bad idea if you think about the exorbitant price tags that comes with the modern MacBook computers though they’re really feature rich as well.

But interestingly, when the new iPad Pro was first introduced it packs with a new design where Apple tried enough to get rid of the bezels at the top and bottom of the device so the Touch ID was ditched for the current Face ID technology which is also on the iPhone 11 since the days of the iPhone X back in 2017.

The design isn’t just the only thing that sets the iPad Pro apart from the usual iPad. It features some really faster processor and even produces a more crisp display thanks to it’s larger screen size something I do find interesting in devices. No wonder I would usually opt for the much larger iPhone 11 Pro Max or a 65-Inch QLED Samsung TV because the bigger, the better right?

Do you really need a MacBook computer again?

I think that’s the question Apple is trying to push right into our heads as the iPad Pro becomes the bridge. After Apple split the iOS from iPadOS last year, I knew the company is definitely up to something with the iPad line.

With more applications now going in to the iPadOS as well as interesting optimizations to make the device work like a true computer, sometimes you ask if you still need to pay so much to get the MacBook which is now really similar to the iPad.

With the iPad selling too in the $1000 price mark, we can say that the lines between the MacBook computer lineup and the iPad is getting thinner. Apple is even going as far as including some really mind blowing add-ons to finally make the iPad a total rival of it’s computer line-up.

The Introduction of a TrackPad on the iPad

Yeah as said earlier, Apple is now making what? A tablet with a trackpad more like turning the iPad into a hybrid computer (Tablet/Laptop = TabTop). Okay maybe no one will consider the name I gave it but considering the fact that the forthcoming iPadOS 13.4 will have support for trackpad makes the iPad really impressive.

While the support for the Trackpad or mouse won’t be just limited to the iPad but also on the iOS 13.4, Apple has it that even the lower-end iPads with mid-range price points will also have this support because of the operating system I guess but well, it doesn’t matter anymore whether you’re using the iPad Pro or the iPad Mini with the $300 price mark.

Specifically, “iPad Pro models, iPad Air 2 and later, iPad fifth generation and later, and iPad mini 4 and later.”

Apple then said it’s core applications will get the support for the trackpad first but will also work across applications and iOS 13.

A new casing with super high price tag

Apple is known for ages for always charging premium for their devices but whether it’s worth it or not isn’t the question. Apple had specially designed a new case for the iPad Pro which it called the Magic Keyboard and it has the trackpad right within it. Also, you can turn the iPad into a monitor by just elevating it with this casing which makes it float in the air.

It has a number of other new features, including MacBook-like backlit scissor keys and a passthrough USB-C port.  But well, the company is charging as high as $299 and $349 for the iPad Pro 11-Inch and 12.9-Inch respectively.

But then considering this price tag, when adding that all together, then you’re definitely already paying premium price which you would normally pay for high-end computers.

These new keyboard cases aren’t arriving until May, while the iPad Pros should be ready next week. Of course, with coronavirus delays and retail shutdowns starting to occur in the US, actual timeframes are more unclear.

The spread of the virus is a trouble on it’s own and its disrupted economies of different countries around the world and so could it affect the sales of this insanely pricey keyboard. There are obviously going to be third-party keyboards with trackpad with much lessened price tag so unless you necessarily want to use that of Apple, then you shouldn’t have any problem here.

LiDAR now boost the AR feature of the iPad Pro

Apple s=is now upgrading the camera setup of the iPad Pro to include a dual setup and then a LiDAR which can measure depth in a room and take a 3D scan of an environment such as large-scan version of the front-facing TrueDepth camera, or Google‘s older Tango phones that pioneered that idea.

This ToF depth sensing technology will further enhance the ARKit software built right within the system more accurately and make it process faster. The AR system will be able to enable the iPad create 3D models of rooms and place objects in them just as we’ve seen on headsets like the Magic Leap or the HoloLens 2.

I believe the ToF will really improve even third-party applications that already have this capability such as the FaceRig application or Chudo which mimics the Memoji.

Do you really need the new iPad Pro?

That honestly is up to you but f think about it, few perks including the forthcoming iPadOS 13.4 with support for Trackpad and Mouse is a big deal and the interesting camera features not to mention other specifications such as the new chipset that will make the device process faster and so on all which makes the iPad Pro a truly interesting device money can buy.

But looking at the price tag, you might wonder especially say you already have a cheaper iPad and then having to upgrade to this $1000 with $349 keyboard might not really be what you’d prefer. The new iPad Pro is expected to be available next week.
