Samsung and Huawei might be the leaders in the foldable smartphone market right now but Chinese brand TCL is taking things to another level.
The company unveiled its rather interesting foldable and rollable smartphone concept during its DTC 2021 tech congress in China.
Even though the device was posted during the event in China, a video has surfaced on Twitter showcasing the interesting concept of smartphones.
The most interesting thing is the fact that the concept showcased on Twitter is very functional rather than being a mere dummy.

Even though the device is really impressive and interesting, it’s unknown whether such a concept smartphone will ever make it to commercial production.
The device maintained a standard 6.87-inch display for the smartphone form factor while having between an 8.55-inch and 10-inch display when unfolded and unrolled.
Despite the fact that TCL literally cramps three screens together to create this unique form factor, that didn’t have a dramatic impact on the size of the device as it fits pretty well into the pocket.
The hinges of the expandable display need to be firmed up for the device to be a marketing success. Specs-wise, not much is known about the TCL concept foldable and rollable phone although it is likely to have an OLED panel with high refresh rates up to 240Hz.
This could be a revolutionary product or a gimmick just like the all-screen Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha released back in 2019.
Even though I think this might be a good challenge for Samsung which could add one more screen to its next-gen Galaxy Z Fold.
