The last time we spoke about the Nokia-Flipkart collaboration to launch a smart TV in India. That news is official now as the company officially announced the date of the event. Media invites had already being sent out as China will be the official launchpad for the TV come December 5.
Nokia in partnership with Flipkart will market the product throughout India and it will be exclusively sold only on the giant e-commerce store.
Since Flipkart is the official brand licensee and thus, it will exclusively sell Nokia-branded Smart TVs in the country. The e-commerce company will also manage the end-to-end go-to-market strategy for Nokia branded Smart TVs. Furthermore, the brand will manufacture and distribute the Smart TVs as well.

As for the Smart TV itself, there was a leak that teases the corner of the TV set which showcased a metal finish as well as the “Sound by JBL” branding on what looks like one of its speakers.
According to Flipkart, it assured that the Nokia smart TV will come with features such as Minimal Harmonic Distortion and Clear Vocal Tones which is in place to ensure an immersive audio experience. Also there will be an inclusion of the Dolby Audio and DTS TruSurround which is meant to enable a high-quality audio playback from the TV’s front speakers. The Nokia Smart TV will also be able to decode surround sound with the help of the DTS TruSurround.
Another thing newsworthy is the fact that the Nokia Smart TV recently got spotted on the Bureau of Indian Standards database where it’s confirmed to be a 55-Inches panel with 4K Ultra HD resolution display. Also, the TV is said to be Android based running on the Version 9.0 (Android Pie) as well as access to the Google Play store and Services.
With the likes of Xiaomi Mi TV, OnePlus TV and even the recently launched Motorola TV, Nokia TV will have to go head on against these already settled competitors. And again, it’s noteworthy that Motorola TVs are launched in India under a strategic partnership of the Lenovo-owned company with Flipkart, similar to this deal of Flipkart with Nokia.
Another interesting thing happening is the fact that Nokia is expected to showcase three more of it’s new smartphones which includes the Nokia 8.2, Nokia 5.2 and Nokia 2.3 even though there isn’t any official confirmation about that, it’s interesting that the Nokia Mobile event will also be hosted on that same December 5.
But whatever it is Nokia has to offer this time, stay tuned on Brumpost as we bring you all the best stories about the Nokia company and it’s innovations and next smart technology.
