Google is reportedly making some essential adjustments to its Fitbit smart fitness brand by renaming the company to “Fitbit by Google” even though the business will continue in the fitness wearable gear, users will be required to use their Google accounts before being able to use the Fitbit system starting from 2023.
This was the fear of many people when the acquisition was first announced a couple of years back.
Many feared the authenticity of Google’s data protection considering the fact that the company’s sole business model is ad-supported, and most users wouldn’t want their health info sold to advertisers.
However, Google is incorporating the Fitbit system into its account which is why users are going to be required to make use of their Google accounts instead.

In fact, you’ll be required to sign up for Fitbit or activate newly released Fitbit devices and features according to a report.
Users who already have existing Fitbit accounts will have the chance to transfer their- data to their Google accounts or continue using the existing Fitbit devices and services with their Fitbit accounts until 2025 when everyone will literally be obligated to switch.

Fitbit says Google accounts on Fitbit will “support a number of benefits for Fitbit users, including a single login for Fitbit and other Google services, industry-leading account security, centralized privacy controls for Fitbit user data, and more features from Google on Fitbit.”
For those who are still worried about Google’s privacy commitment, the search giant has said it will abide by the binding commitments made with the global regulators to complete the Fitbit acquisition which means it will not use people’s health and wellness data for its Ads service.
