Sony’s Virtual Reality headset was shown off to the world to reveal what we would be paying as much as $399 for as its scheduled to start shipping this October. But the next iteration is yet unknown if its coming ASAP.
“Consumer VR is just starting.”
Sony had made it known that its treating the release of PSVR exactly as a new game console launch. And we knew how long it is between 2006 and 2013 which actually served as the duration of time between The PS3 and PS4 game consoles. The Headset technology is different anyway considering its reformed manner of potability and ease of access. Even the PSVR itself has become much more sophisticated since it debuted two years ago. Based on words from Sony worldwide studio’s president Shuhei Yoshida, there would be certainty that PSVR’s upgrade plans might take newer dimension than the normal game console.
“In terms of tech, VR is just starting, consumer VR is just starting, and there are also areas where R&D is being done; the resolution gets better, the interface, all of these kinds of things,” Yoshida told The Verge in an interview. “So even though we are approaching PSVR on PS4 like a console — meaning that anyone can buy it without any technical knowledge — because this field is so new, and advancements will be everywhere as we continue to work on R&D, I can not say that the PSVR will have the same kind of cycle as a traditional console.”
