Since 2018 when we first saw the first Poco F1, we’ve been expecting an update of the device ever since and there were numerous speculations about the Redmi K30 being the Poco F2 but that news came back negative.
POCO which is now an independent brand from Xiaomi launched the popular POCO X2 which was rebranded as beng Redmi K30 in China which had fueled rumors about the Redmi K30 Pro 5G to be rebranded as the Poco F2 when released in India.
An XDA Developers member equally found some code which suggests the Redmi K30 Pro may launch as a POCO branded phone, possibly the much-anticipated POCO F2.
But anyways, the whole rumor or speculation isn’t true any longer as POCO GM C Manmohan during an interactive Zoom meeting it had today with fans shared a few tips into the development of the device. What is most significant about the Zoom discussion is the fact that the Poco F2 is utterly different from the Redmi K30 Pro. Also, part of the expectations of the Poco F2 would be based on how interesting the first Poco F1 was just that this time around, the Poco F2 might be pricier than the previous model hence, it won’t be the same $265 USD smartphone we all drooled about back in 2018.

The Poco F1 back in 2018 featured high-end specifications such as the expensive Snapdragon 845 chipset, Liquid cooling system and even an AMOLED display. The price sounded very unreal to most but well it seems to have been a good marketing strategy which worked despite the fact that it’s obvious Xiaomi might have made a loss over the device considering the low price compared to the high-end specs.
So if your budget plan is just another $265, the advise will be to go for the Poco X2 instead as the Poco F2 might peak $500 and above just from the look of things and a wild guess.
While Manmohan may have put paid to speculation of the Redmi K30 Pro 5G launching as Poco F2, we may still see the Redmi K30 Pro launch in India under the POCO brand but not as F2.
So let’s know what you think about the device in the comment section below. Do you think when the Poco F2 is released it will be a big success or fail because of the new price point.
