So OnePlus seemingly is aiming up towards the Premium and innovating ideas in the smartphone industry. The newly released OnePlus 7 Pro device is a great example of such. The “Flagship Killer” as OnePlus is usually referred to has released another big thing, the OnePlus 7 Pro. Last year, we talked about the OnePlus 6 which was great in performances and very valuable if you think about it.
Things had gotten even more aggressive with the new OnePlus 7 Pro in terms of features, designs and of course it’s price tag. While we’re preparing to review the OnePlus before the week ends, here is our quick take on the device.
The company’s motto is “Never Settle” and that might seem powerful considering how OnePlus doesn’t stick finally with a single design, feature or even price instability.
The new OnePlus consists of an amazing set of accessories which accompanies the device. For example, the Bullet Wireless 2 and a Warp Charge car adapter with a really nice case the company sells along with the device. The advantage of the Warp Charge is how it also includes both USB A up to USB C cable all in one.

As for the device itself, it comes with a clear case, a sim ejector and there is a screen protector to keep the all-screen clean and protected from fingerprint. But we’ll talk about that in a moment.

The smartphone look and feels really amazing considering the choice of color which OnePlus had applied on the device. There are currently three colors such as Mirror Gray, Almond (not out yet though) as well as the popular Nebula Blue which has a really cool matte finish.
The side of the back is well curved while the camera bump is still cool and non-intrusive in any way. In fact, the experience is cool. I bet, OnePlus hired the best designers to do this great job.
The Bezel-less and notch-less display is an amazing view on the device’s front. The company calls this a Fluid Display and if you think about it, this is a giant 6.67 inch AMOLED panel which is finally moving up the Quad HD+ resolution. Believe it or not, this device has the first OLED that will feature an amazing 90 Hz refresh rate which makes gaming really interesting and awesome.
Concerning the speaker, the device comes with an amazing dual stereo speakers that is finished by Dolby ATMOS. There is also a new Nightmode 2.- that filters out more blue rays from the device which makes it easier to use the device in the darkness. I found that really fascinating as it’s currently present on most Huawei smartphones called the “Eye Comfort”
As for the camera, well, the new tech is either a flipping slide-out camera or a notch but well, OnePlus 7 employs the Slide out camera which pops out anytime you want to take a selfie with the device. In case you’re skeptical about the reliability of this mechanism, be aware that it’s been tested more than 300 thousand times to ensure stability and accuracy. Also, the speed of the slide out is really fast which still supports face unlock in just 0.65 seconds.

There isn’t any IP rating for the device yet but we hope to test it in water just in case you accidentally find yourself landing the device inside water. But the company had assured that there will be the same experience as the previous generations.
Those of you looking for a more conventional approach, the on display fingerprint scanner has been improved, now with a 36% larger sensor, and unlocking the phone in just 0.21 seconds.
But never forget this is a FLAGSHIP device. That makes it packed with tons of hardware features that makes it really fast and cool to use. Considering the SoC being the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 856, powering that is either a 6GB, 8GB or 12GB of RAM as well as 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage with a really big 4,000mAh battery, a Warp Charge 30 that supercharge the device from 0 to 50% in just 20 minutes and a new X-Axis Haptic Vibration Motor for better interaction with the device as well as a Wi-Fi a/c, Bluetooth 5.0 and all the LTE band you can expect in a modern device.
That’s a lot of hardware feature but that’s not even all. The camera has 3 sensors which are of the Sony IMX586 primary camera with 48 MegaPixels, f1.6 apertures and supports a massive 1.6 microns through picel binnong and has OIS and EIS for video stability and image motion snapshots. While the main camera sensor might seem powerful, it’s supported by another 8 megapixel telephoto sensor at 3X optical zoom, f2.4 aperture with standard microns and OIS just as the bigger 48MP camera.
It also has a 16 MegaPixel Ultra-Wide sensor at 117 Degree of field, f2.2 aperture but without an OIS. There is a Night Scape feature that makes HDR+ possible. While shooting videos, there is support for 4K video at 60fps, 1080P super slow-mo at 240fps, 720P at 480 while the front facing camera supports 1080P at 30fps but we’ll talk morewe about the camera when we complete our review of the device.

Coming to the device’s software is the OnePlus’ own customized Android sin, the Oxygen OS 9.5.2 which works on the Android Pie 9.0 and it’s listsed to be on the line for the Android Q beta. There’s a new screen recording feature in case that’s your thing. Probably my favorite change is a new Zen Mode for digital well-being. It forces you to spend 20 minutes of phone free time and you can’t cheat. If you enable this, you won’t be able to switch it off even if you reset the phone.
I particularly find the back of the device amazing. The way the back color shifts from dark blue when there is light on it is really amazing. Both front and back of the device has the awesome Gorilla Glass 6 which makes it really great and anti-scratch resistant just in case you don’t want to use a case but I’ll advise that considering the fact that the device still grab a little bit of fingerprint..though not that bad but you can’t compare the sturdiness with the Google Pixel 3 XL. Also, the chin on the display is barely noticeable making it seem as if you’re holding a giant screen on your hand. It looks very futuristic and modern in every way possible. Seriously the only thing this phone is missing is wireless charging, which has warp charging as a solution, and a headphone jack.
Concerning the price tag, it comes a bit less price as you’d expect. But it still resides in the flaghship region in terms of pricing. The price of the OnePlus 7 Pro starts at $669 but if you want the extra Bullet Wireless 2 headphone, you’ll have to add $99 which hikes the pricing up high a little bit. In terms of pricing, the OnePlus 7 Pro will be in the same range with the Samsung Galaxy S10E as well as the Apple iPhone XR. You m ight be impressed just yet, the device is definitely a really powerful performing smartphone that is worth the investment. You can bet it.
