The number of True wireless earbuds or TWS earbuds is growing in the tech world today and nearly every smartphone companies big or small have opted in to join the business. Although not every one of them have ditched out the headphone jack just yet like Apple , the future is wireless and that is where the Havit i99 TWS comes in.
In the simplest context, it would be safe to say almost every TWS earbuds makers out there are in one way or the other copying Apple’s AirPods and yes the Havit i99 TWS seems completely like a rip-off of the Apple AirPods Pro which had prompted numerous clones seen throughout the internet today.
While the Havit i99 TWS earbuds has it’s own uniqueness so it’s not a complete design rip-off of the AirPods Pro. But that apart, the TWS earbuds also has it’s own uniqueness where it shines among the innumerable list of TWS earbuds in the market. If you’ve ever typed the keyword “TWS earbds” into a big e-commerce site like AliExpress, Amazon, Banggood or GearBest or FlipKart, you’ll know that these platforms have unending list of TWS earbuds but picking that which is right can be a serious daunting task. So let’s talk about the Havit i99 TWS earbuds and tell you my experience with the earbuds as well as why you might give it a try just in case you’re in the market for a true wireless earbuds

Hardware of the Havit i99 TWS

One of the interesting thing about this earbuds is the hardware specifications which despite being an ultra-affordable earbud, it still manages to have that interesting features you would expect from a mid-range TWS earbud.
One of the things I found interesting about the earbud is the in-ear design which just like others I’ve reviewed on Brumpost usually have that noise isolation capability just because of the fact that they protrude well into the ear canal and so blocks out ambient noise. That is one of the thing that drew me closer to the Havit i99 TWS earbuds in the first place.
Another thing about the design is the long tail or stem whichever you want to call it. With this, making calls is usually easier because the protruded stem can easily pick your vocals through the mic built right into it. With that alone, it would make the TWS earbud a great purchase for a gamer for example or even a normal user who just want to go about the day with a good earbud to listen to music and make calls.
And just in case you forgot, this earbud also sport the touch control system which unlike other affordable earbuds I’ve reviewed here such as the HBQ Q32 TWS earbuds or the SWZYOR A2 TWS earbud which have buttons that would usually cause inconvenience whenever you try to perform tasks such as changing tracks, picking calls or increasing the volume of the earbuds.
As for the Havit i99 TWS earbuds, you can perform tasks such answer calls, play or pause music, adjust volume as well as skip songs using the touch control on the earbuds which is a really fascinating experience. Also the fact that it has a tail/stem makes it easier to pull out the earbuds from your ear whenever you want to charge it or something.
Another great value to the hardware of this earbuds is that it’s rated IPX5 which makes it “waterproof” I’m putting that in quote because I never gambled with it. While I did tried some intentional water splashes, it definitely didn’t have any effect on it.
But the main reason for the IPX5 rating is just so you can do things such as exercises with the earbuds on and so you wouldn’t have to worry about sweat even though they didn’t say water/sweat proof since sweat would usually contain Sodium.
The Havit i99 TWS sounds great

Maybe “Great” should be in quote because that is subjective but for real, I’ve tested a number of TWS earbuds in the market today including the Bluedio T-Elf 2 which also had the touch control and other interesting features to it but the audio sucks very badly.
As for the Havit i99, the audio is quite nice for it’s pricing. And I would attribute that to the size of the earbuds itself. While I’m not an engineer, one important thing is that the design of the earbud would surely have an effect on the audio quality which is why we never saw the ANC (Active noise cancellation) or even the Noise Isolation on the normal AirPods and AirPods 2 from Apple.
Speaking of the quality of the audio, the latency is very low and so it would be really ideal for making calls as well as using it for video conferencing say Zoom calling and other alternative video-based services out there.
When I tested the Havit i99 TWS earbuds with different music types, it definitely had an effect on the audio output. Also, my smartphone Huawei Mate 30 Pro uses some AI-based technology to identify the earphone being used and so usually output the best audio quality for it. That translates to the fact that you’ll probably experience different audio quality depending on the type of smartphone/device you want to use the Havit i99 TWS earbuds for.
The battery life of the Havit i99 TWS earbuds

Maybe this shouldn’t have it’s own sub-topic but it’s worth noting that the battery longevity of this device is really amazing for real. Considering the price point, it doesn’t miss the 4 – 5 hours mark thanks to its 40mAh battery. One of the factors that would determine how long lasting the battery life would be also includes the volume of the sound itself.
Like if you’re trying to listen to slow music and lower the volume a bit, you might be able to peak the 5 hours mark. Being an avid music enthusiast myself, I can tell how long the earbud would sit right in my ear.
The other thing about the Havit i99 TWS is the weight of the earbuds which is really light. While I said I could wear this for a really long time, one of the reason for this is the comfort and convenience that comes with it. So you can sleep on your sides without having to worry that it would slip out of your ear canal because the ear-tip design makes it stick within.
While I had ear wax at some point in my life, it made earbuds slippery whenever I try them in my ear. But if that’s not your case, then you should have really unmatched experience coupled with the long battery life.
The charging case also has a 450mAh battery with four LED indicator which tells you how many battery is left on the device. It’s doesn’t support wireless charging though but it uses USB Type-C which is another thumb up from me. Also the casing can last you for a whole 24 hours of it’s fully charged and that means you can have an unending experience with the Havit i99 earbuds. Charging the earbuds takes between 1.5 hours for a full charge.
Should you buy the Havit i99 TWS earbuds?
YES! If you’re strictly on a budget and do not want to spend unnecessary money. While the Havit i99 earbuds is great for real, it does come with some down side just as many others out there. For example, it usually disconnect in scenarios such as holding your smartphone too tight.
What I meant by that is if you’re for example holding your arms with your smartphone within your folded arms, it would distort the audio quality or even screw the connection which would usually reconnect automatically.
While the pairing with smartphones or computers is very fast, it can only reach 3 to 10 meters before it start distorting. But there are even some scenarios whereby the Bluetooth frequency gets interfered with. If you’re in a place with high-frequency network servers, it could have an effect on the audio frequency of the Havit i99 earbud.
But aside the downside, the other good thing is that the earbud while it doesn’t come with an application still manages to be one of the best affordable Bluetooth TWS earbuds out there which you can buy for just US$29 even thought the retail price is far more than that.
