Newest report is that the UK’s National Security Council are said to meet as early as Tuesday in an attempt to decide whether to allow Huawei to participate in the region’s 5G network development according to a close source. So Huawei 5G network in UK could be halted or proceeded.
The meeting is said to be centering on two major topics which includes whether to reverse the country’s decision made back in January where the Chinese telecom giant was added to help build the country’s 5G network.
Afterwards, the decision of the NSC will also determine whether or not all the existing Huawei equipment should be removed. The announcement is expected to be made by the country’s Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden soon after the meeting concludes on what to do.
This report followed a previous one which stated the country is getting closer to making a final decision on the 5G network. What is really causing the hard issues with Huawei results back to sanctions from the US government on the company over it’s supposed close ties with the Chinese government.

With more sanctions on Huawei, the company had definitely been cut off from interacting with companies using US components which cut out Huawei’s supply chain and that is forcing the UK government to weigh in on the matter.
An approval by the UK government might put a rift between US and the UK over the issue as the US President seems to have tried to pander to other world leaders to ditch Huawei.
It all boils down to the type of equipment Huawei would use to achieve its 5G network in UK even if it is ever allowed as using untrusted hardware could further ruin the argument against Huawei. Meanwhile, there are some existing Huawei tech equipment in the UK and the meeting could determine whether they should be removed or not.
Leading conservative Bob Seely indicates that the goal is to see a “no new kit date” set for late 2021. But the date for a ‘rip-out’ of current Huawei equipment is being hotly debated. If it’s determined that the existing equipment should be removed, the date could fall anytime between 2023 and 2025.
