Apple is working on it’s next A14 Processor for the forthcoming iPhone 12 series which will likely be the first ARM-Based mobile processor to exceed 3GHz based upon a claim published on Sunday.
Based upon the research Snipers’ report, the chipset could hit a GeekBennch 4 running a super high score of 3.1GHz which will place the chipset at 400MHz higher than the current model, the A13 Bionic chipset which is 2.7GHz.
The report goes on to note that:
“At such high frequencies, Geekbench 5’s running points also soared, with single-core 1658 points and multi-core 4612 points.”

Based on the report note, the A13 Bionic was compared with the forthcoming A14 Bionic and it’s single-core performance is said to have increased by 25% to 1658 for the A14 Bionic chipset.
Meanwhile, multi-core performance is up 33% from the A13 to hit 4612 points.
A14: Introducing the 5-nanometer process
Apple A14 Bionic chipset is said to be designed by TSMC based on the new 5-nanometer process. Reaching smaller number in terms of nanometers is no guarantee of performance boosts.
The redesign which is now based on reducing the sizes between transistors is why more are being packed right into them which has greatly improved the performances of the chipset.
Apple was able to improve on the number of nanometers back in 2018 during the release of the A12 Bionic chipset. Also, its worth noting that the chipset is made using about 7-nanometer process which is either the first or second of its kind on a smartphone.
Compared to the Huawei’s own Kirin 980 chioset with the 7NM, Apple was able to ship the 7NM first on it’s iPhones right beside the Huawei smartphones.
Fast Company listed the 7nm A12 chip as being Apple’s biggest feat of 2018. This year’s A14 could help Apple repeat that achievement — and then some.
According to Digitimes last week, it was reported that TSMC is getting to “Kick off” a large production of those chipset using 5nm process technology in April. Although there isn’t any specificity if the owner of these chipsets is Apple but it said that the process capacity has already been “fully booked” up and that could be the next iPhone series expected to be released later on this year.
