Smartphone sales dropped couple of years back but that growth had been regained based on a report published by Strategy Analytics which states that the Q3 of 2019 had seen a global sales of about 366 million mark which is about 2% higher compared to the same quarter in the previous year.
The current winners still remained the same with Huawei surprisingly still the second after Samsung while others like Apple, Xiaom, Oppo and Vivo follow the leaders.

The leader, Samsung is said to have successfully shipped about 78.2 Million smartphones worldwide in Q3 2019 which is like 8% much higher in comparison to the previous year, 2018’s Q3 whereby Samsung only shipped about 72.3 Million units of smartphones.
Samsung’s global market share has also grown from 20% to 21% YoY for the said time period. Worth highlighting, the devices that led Samsung’s sales to boost include the high-end Galaxy Note 10 lineup and the budget to mid-range focused Galaxy A lineup which is obviously selling very well in Africa for example.

Huawei on the other hand despite landing in hot waters still managed to stay at the top even though it predicted taking the top spot from Samsung. The company’s sales grew from the older 51.8 Million to 66.7 million which is about 29% increase in sales compared to Samsung.
Huawei’s global market share also increased but at a much higher rate from 14% a year ago to 18% now.

Huawei totally dominated it’s home market this year probably pursuing it’s competitors aggressively seeing the company move up in a whopping 66% YoY for the same time period.
The previous Q3 of 2018, Huawei was able to sell about 25 Million units of devices in China which grew to about 41.55 Million in July to August quarter of 2019.
When the data from two reports are combined, it is revealed that Huawei’s global market except for its home country slumped 1.6 million units from 26.8 million units in the Q3 of 2018 to 25.2 million units in the Q3 of 2019. Even though Huawei’s overall sales did see an upward trend, we will have to wait and observe for how long can the company continue to thrive with sales boost only in its home country.
Meanwhile others like Apple, Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo were also among the current leading smartphone makers in the world as the iPhone 11 will probably make alot of sense this coming year considering the reception of the device. Xiaomi also continues to make outstanding mid rangers but OnePlus, LG, Sony, Honor and Motorola and others are nowhere near.
