Although we don’t have an idea about what Xiaomi is planning this time around regarding its Mi 12 Ultra in terms of design but reports from a famous Chinese tipster via Weibo, Digital Chat Station has made it known that the next-gen Xiaomi 12 Ultra will come with the yet-to-be-announced Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ chipset.
Due to the fact that the “Plus” variants of Qualcomm’s high-end chipsets are often announced in H2, one shouldn’t expect the Xiaomi 12 Ultra before the end of Q3 2022 if that makes any sense.
However, a device with the corresponding model number is said to have appeared on the radar with the unnamed Qualcomm SM475 chipset. The current version of Qualcomm’s high-end chipset doesn’t carry the “Plus” moniker as well as carrying the model number SM8450, it might be safe to just “assume” that there is a “Plus” variant on the way.
Rumor has it, Qualcomm’s future Plus model will be manufactured on TSMC’s 4nm process instead of Samsung’s, which the current Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is based on.
As for other features of the Xiaomi 12 Ultra, we might get another device with a better secondary display – if the Chinese smartphone maker wants to continue on that route and of course, better cameras too.
