This might be the oddest news or maybe the most “Unprepared for” news because Samsung had suddenly decided it wants to launch t’s foldable smarpthone, the Galaxy Fold. Earlier this year when test versions of the devices were handed out to media personalities and journalists, the devices’ screen had serious engineering problems because of the accidental removal of a film on the screen which was initially mistaken for a screen guide.
The incidence led to Samsung recalling the device to Fix them up. And since then, it had caused lots of arguments about whether Samsung would release this smartphone ever again but really, Samsung is coming back with the device even though Royole Flexipai had already taken the place of the Galaxy Fold to be the first ever folding smartphone in the world.
Even the Huawei Mate X prototype that was released earlier on aren’t planned to be released yet although things might change during the next unveiling of the company’s Mate series launching on the 13th of September, 2019. But that is not the news.
The news is that The Korea Herald posted on their website that the Samsung Galaxy Fold will be launched in Korea just n=in two days time which is on the 6th of September, 2019. “Samsung Electronics is making last-minute efforts to release the world’s first foldable display smartphone this week“.

So this Friday, Samsung is therefore expected to roll out an inital batch of about Twenty to Thirty thousand Galaxy Fold units for it’s local customers in the South Korea but this would make it the first top 5 brand to release a foldable device as Huawei’s Mate X will only come second remember Royole is just a startup.
Hands-on versions of the device will be available for the public at the upcoming IFA 2019. Black, silver, green and blue will be the color options and the price in Korea will be around 2.39 million won, which roughly translates to $1,965. Let’s hope Samsung had already fixed these smartphones and there won’t be any issues with them.
Meanwhile, the initial pullout might have led to skepticism from customers about the durability of the smartphone as compared to the rest. JerryRigEverything, a popular YouTube engineer dismantled the Royole FlexiPai to see how durable the device is and in his conclusion, he acknowledged the fact that the device could withstand such harsh conditions had put the device through after bending it the wrong ways.
The Samsung Galaxy Fold will definitely be made with Plastic but some engineers argued it could be mixed up with Glass as well especially on the edges of the smartphone which would give it more resistance to scratches. According to the JerryRigEverything’s Scratch test, the Royole FlexiPai eventually got scratched but not at the initial stage. It took him to emphasize more pressure on the screen while he used his screw driver to continuously scratch on the surface of the screen before he then saw traceable scratches.
Normally, most smartphone users won’t subject their device to such a harsh condition which could be a slightly bigger advantage for the Galaxy Fold as well hopefully it’s made with such powerful and superior materials as others. Also, the screen folds inwardly meaning it has triple screens. The first at the back which when closed will just be a basic 3.5 inch screen and then when opened, the dual co-joined screen will be revealed.
Unlike the Royole Flexipai and the Huawei Mate X for example, both of these devices folds outwardly which means the same screen becomes the device’s back when folded up. That puts them at some disadvantages when being placed on a surface like table or the pavement.
