Huawei might finally be listening to us as the company is reportedly working on PCs built using its own products which includes the HiSilicon Kupeng processor as well as the HarmonyOS which we’ve always longed for after the company was forced to released the operating system last year after it got hit by a trade ban by the US Government citing security reasons.

The company’s HongMeng OS which its proprietary operating system expected to take the place of Android and Windows by creating a universal communication between devices such as computers, smart home appliances, automobile infotainment and smartphones.

The only product we ever found the new operating system to be featured was a couple of Honor and Huawei smart TVs but the a newer HarmonyOS version 2.0 is said to be coming to PCs as well which will be an interesting news for the industry as it will become more diverse than ever.

The news was broken by a Chinese tipster who alleged that the company will be working on a number of PCs which will be running on the Kupeng chipset and also revealed that some Chinese provinces, cities and regions are already cooperating with the homegrown company in order to build its PC industry supply chain.

The HarmonyOS was one of the most trending topics in technology last year until the company eventually unveiled the operating system at the Huawei Developer Conference (HDC) 2019 where the company shared a roadmap that mentioned the release of the version 2.0 of the operating system this year (2020) with support for PC, Cars and smart wears. So it is all happening as per the plan disclosed by the firm last year. We can expect the announcement of HarmonyOS 2.0 to take place at Huawei Developer Conference 2020 later this year.

Huawei has however been supplying the Kupeng processors to its enterprise customers for computing solutions so this is not an entirely new set of product. The company even announced its first desktop motherboard that was built on the Kupeng 920 processor back in the year 2019 which has suport for all necessary hardware. But this motherboards are just for enterprises as they’re not available for the consumers.

The upcoming Huawei PCs will be either powered by this motherboard or the company will announce something new at HDC 2020 so we’re left with our fingers crossed hoping to get thrilled again by the Chinese tech giant this time again.
