Flip cameras aren’t mainstream yet with just few popular brands being the Samsung Galaxy A80 and then the Asus Zenfone 6 being the popular brands using this technology whereby smartphone cameras flips from the of the device forward to become the selfie camera.
Huawei is being rumored to be on the radar as well as the company is said to have filed for a patent of a smartphone that fits the aforementioned description. Currently, even high-end smartphones like the Mate 30 Pro, Galaxy Note 10, iPhone 11 Pro Max and so forth either device the notched display or hole-punch or motorized pop-up camera technologies.
The fact that you’re able to use the same camera from behind of your smartphone as the selfie camera means there is no loss in value because we all know the main powerful cameras on smartphones are those at the back not the one at the front.
In a recent post we got from LetsGoDigital, Huawei is said to have filed a patent for a device that will have a clip camera which flips from the back to the front just as in the case of the Asus Zenfone 6 rather than the Galaxy A80 which pops out first and then flips forward. The patent was then published by the World Intellectual Property Office on December 17, 2019.
The patented device’s image render looked very similar to the Asus Zenfone 6 with the difference being the number of cameras on the device. The Huawei’s patented device will have triple camera setup unlike Zenfone 6 with dual camera setup. If the setup includes an ultrawide angle camera, owners will be able to take wide-angle selfies.
What might make this a possibility is the fact that Huawei had earlier been rumored to feature the Flip camera technology on it’s P Smart Z 2020 model but then the device was later on announced to feature a pop-up selfie camera instead. The fact that this could be the case might not be doubtful even though we don’t know what device this would be called but it’s likely it’s the successor of the P Smart who knows.
