After Hauwei sold all of its shares in Honor, the brand seems to be doing just fine and rumors has it that the international version of Honor’s flagship “Honor V40” series could be the first to have the Google Mobile Service once again as Honor will no longer be held under the same sanctions as Huawei.
The company is also said to be planning to release its Honor Play 5 in China as soon as May 18th with rumors detailing that the device will be within the upper mid-range arena.
Pre-release posters and teaser photographs of the device are already being circulated across the web by the company which confirms the release pretty soon.
One of the confirmations is that the device will come in a number of color options such as white gradient, silver gradient and black.
The Chinese firm has also confirmed that it will carry support for 66W rapid charging which is a big deal.
Honor Play5 specifications (Rumored)
Finally, we might be seeing an Honor device with an OLED panel and I’ll be eternally grateful if that’s the case with this device because obviously, almost all smartphones in the same league as Honor build devices with OLED panels.
The use of IPS LCD panels on mid-range smartphones is common with Hauwei while only making its high-end premium devices with OLED and since Honor is out from Huawei, the company might be taking some good baby steps to compete in the huge smartphone market which demands serious innovations.
Still on the supposed specifications, rumor has it that there could be a 6.53-inch OLED panel with Full HD+ resolution and a rain-drop notch at the top with an under-screen fingerprint scanner.
In terms of high refresh rate, that might also be a good spec to have especially if the Honor brand wants to retain its true honor in the smartphone market considering the fact that so many devices in the lower-mid-range spectrum now have mouth watering features like high refresh rates.
Powering the Honor Play 5 up could be the Dimensity 800U chipset and in terms of storage option, there could be about 8GB of RAM with 256GB of internal storage and battery wise, we might be getting about 3,800mAh and of course the current Android 11 OS.
There is no information on the front camera of the Play5. Its rear-facing camera system is said to be a quad-setup with the primary sensor being a 64-megapixel snapper and then an 8-megapixel superwide lens, a 2-megapixel macro camera, and a 2-megapixel depth assist lens. At present, there is no word on the pricing of the device.
