When Samsung released the Galaxy Z Flip 3 back in 2021, many loved the device and called it the most practical foldable device. It was beautiful, colorful, and affordable, even though not in the mid-range price point, it cost much lesser than its predecessor.
The newest report we have now about the next-gen Galaxy Z Flip 4 is that the device will in fact be sold at the same price range as the previous model. In a couple of weeks, the Samsung Unpacked event will go live and the company is expected to unveil its wearable gadgets and foldable smartphones such as the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and the Galaxy Z Fold 4.
Other devices expected include the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Buds.
Even though these products are still being expected, the majority of them have been leaked over the past few weeks but for whatever reason, the foldable smartphones have not been leaked online.
The European pricing structure for the Flip 4 has leaked, indicating that Samsung might not plan any significant price changes for the more affordable foldable handset. The Flip 4 should cost just as much as its predecessor in the region, so we’d expect Samsung to keep the Fold 4 price in place as well.
One thing to keep in mind in 2022 is the current state of the global economy which will certainly affect the price of goods and services around the globe including smartphones. Also, the fact that foldable smartphones are still not yet considered “regular” smartphones, this can affect the price of the device when it’s finally announced.
Another reason for the inflation has been the war in Ukraine which has forced suppliers to increase good prices despite the 2020’s pandemic that had a terrible effect on the global economy.
That’s not great news for Samsung foldable devices, which continue to be more expensive than traditional flagships. Samsung has lowered the prices since the first Fold and Flip models. And the company throws plenty of promos at consumers in a bid to reduce the entry cost. But Samsung phones are more expensive than their counterparts from China. Luckily for Samsung, those rival devices aren’t widely available.
That is what keeps the Galaxy Z series at the top of the foldable smartphone market. That said, Samsung might not offer too much discount for any of its forthcoming Galaxy Z Fold 4 or the Z Flip 4 when they drop this year. And the best the company can do is to keep the price the way they were back in 2021.
The price of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 according to the report was gotten in Euros but had to be converted into US dollars. That said, below is what buyers in the EU might expect (price already converted to US Dollar)
- 128GB Galaxy Z Flip 4: $1,080
- 256GB Galaxy Z Flip 4: $1,160
- 512GB Galaxy Z Flip 4: $1,280
Whatever the final price for the Flip 4, the entire EU region will offer a similar pricing structure, with small variations. Italian blog Tutto Android speculates that the 128GB model might cost $1,099 in Italy. That price point is in line with the Galaxy Z Flip 3’s cost last year.
In the US, the base model of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 could have a price tag of about US$999 while the bigger and more expensive Galaxy Fold 4 might be about US$1,799 before deals and promos.
However, some features including storage options might change. But Samsung is often very generous enough to offer their fans amazing deals. In fact, users might be able to swap their older Galaxy devices for the new ones. Also, buying a bundle of devices including the wearables could save customers a lot of bucks while making purchases.
