Ever since Apple became a really big tech company, it entered a phase whereby all it creates somehow become the norm throughout the entire industry and that is true for most of its products especially with the virality of the AirPods TWS earbuds which ha become the norms to the point other smartphone makers are excluding the 3.5mm headphone jack from their smartphones….because Apple started it first to enhance the sales of the AirPods.
Though the first-gen AirPods sucks at first, the preceding earbuds have since being great especially the current AirPods Pro which seems to be the gold-standard as well as being ridden with knock-offs straight out of China. But let’s not even start with why I’m running farther away from Apple products in Africa.
The newest of the rumors is that Apple is planning on increasing its portfolio of TWS headsets with the so-called AirPods Pro “Lite” version which is basically going to be a trimmed down model. The device excludes the most important factor that makes the AirPods Pro premium and enjoyable, the ANC.
The report was made by TheElec which wrote that the company wants to create a cheaper version of one of its most successful TWS earbuds in a way to further its course as a leader in the TWS Bluetooth Earbuds market. Apple is the dominant force snatching up majority of the market thanks to the success of the AirPods something which some have rumored to be the case with the new AirPods Studio but I doubt that because of the existing industry.
Despite the reported exclusion of the ANC technology from the Lite AirPods Pro, the company is said to also be working on developing a system-in-package (SIP) product which contains “H1” which is an AirPods audio driver chipset whose shape will be much different from the current rounded design on the high-end variant of the AirPods series.
But don’t be over joyous right now because the more interesting thing is about the pricing which is said to only be 20% cheaper than the current AirPods Pro which is about US$250.
The release of the Lite AirPods Pro is supposed to have happened way back when the premium TWS earbuds was launched late 2019 but the sales number probably gave Apple enough time to stay back and wait to see where things head. The AirPods Pro sounds really nice and crisp and the ANC compliments it. And remember the company recently announced a US$550 AirPods Max headphone lately.
