New report has suggested that the next flagship processor from Qualcomm could be named Snapdragon 888 5G which is far different from what we thought it would be – Snapdragon 875.
The next-generation chipset will reportedly replace the current high-end Snapdragon 865 chipset
This was made known by popular leaker Ishan Agrawal who revealed what the branding could be. One thing for sure is that this will be a powerful chipset as well as offer full support for 5G network in future smartphones.
The tweet also arrives after a comment was spotted on GSMArena. The commenter apparently knows about the name before others and believes that the official name is 888 over 875.

Meanwhile the current sentiment being shared across the internet is that the chipset will be named Snapdragon 875. The new narration was also teased by Realme CEO Madhav Sheth who teased the chipset during the upcoming launch with a tweet where he stated “Qualcomm 8__”.
The reason for the name skipping is yet unknown but there is a superstitious reason which GizmoChina stated to being that number 8 is a lucky number in China which is usually associated with inviting wealth. Who knows.
But anyway, this is a pure speculation based on leaks and nothing official. Meanwhile Qualcomm will be hosting its Tech Summit 2020 later on Tuesday 1st of December and we might get a firsthand look at the chipset if its revealed today. This can be a more reliable source for the news.
