Though there is currently a production delay in the making of the Ford Mustang Mach-E, the American automaker is going on its way to ensure its potential customers gets as much as US$5,000 discount but its’s not for everybody instead, the buyers in New Jersey and if you wonder why Ford is suddenly generous, its because of the state’s incentives which has expired for purchasing an EV locally which is why Ford wants its customers to instead keep their money in their pocket.

The state’s Charge Up New Jersey program expired while there are some owners who are based in the state awaiting to take their own delivery of the Mustang Mach-E. With that, the company wants to ensure it treats its customers just like family.

In a statement made by a Ford’s spokesperson to Roadshow: “As part of our commitment to treat customers like family, we are providing $5,000 to approximately 125 customers who did not receive their Mustang Mach-Es before a New Jersey state incentive deadline passed.”

Of note, this isn’t a new incentive buyers can take advantage — just something to do right by previous buyers patiently waiting for their EV.

With the state incentive when combined with a federal tax credit of about US$7,500, that will make the Mustang Mach-E much more affordable to the average buyer in the state.

The last thing the automaker needs is an upset group of owners surrounding its first mass-market EV. And it’s not the first time it stepped up.

Previously, Ford provided a $1,000 cash back incentive to apologize for ongoing production delays associated with the EV. It also dished out free charging vouchers to soon-to-be owners.

The Mustang Mach-E has gotten a number of positive reviews from critics across the country and the EV race seems to have just begun with numerous automakers already joining in.
