The rumor was surprising as well to nearly everyone when it was reported that Nokia will be switching support for Android over to Huawei’s open source operating system HarmonyOS (HongMeng OS).

According to the unconfirmed resource, it was reported that Nokia will use the HarmonyOS for its upcoming smartphones but Nokia came clean making it known that this isn’t true by any means.

The report was initially reported by ThePaper which made it known that Nokia might make use of the HarmonyOS for its x60 smartphone however the Finnish brand made it known that it will continue to support Android.

The firm added that “our commitment to providing the best Android experience remains unwavering.”

The Nokia x60 is expected to be released sometimes during the second half of the year and its expected to feature the HarmonyOS as its base operating system considering the fact that Huawei made the OS open source for anyone to use if they ever want it.

But why would Nokia ditch Android with Google services and opt for Huawei’s mobile services which isn’t popular just yet. It could be the final nail in Nokia’s button or could help raise HarmonyOS and make it mainstream but even if the rumor wasn’t debunked by the Finnish firm, there are chances that it might want to target its Chinese customers with the Chinese-made operating system.

The Nokia x60 is expected to be the company’s flagship smartphone in 2021 offering some pretty daring tech and specifications such as a curved edge display and a 6,000mAh battery.

More reports also suggest the device could house a 200MP primary sensor which will become the first taking the crown away from Xiaomi. However not-so-much is yet known about the device so we might have to wait a bit.
