Microsoft has recently made a server-side change on its system which makes Update Catalog downloads secured via HTTPS connections. The new update now affects everything from the latest Windows 11 update to the Office suite.
The new update means that browsers will no longer throw up warnings whenever it’s trying to download updates from the Microsoft Update Catalog. Also, the process of right-clicking a link in order to select Save As option as there is a new address for the catalog.
The Microsoft Update Catalog’s previous address of http://download.windowsupdate.com has changed to https://catalog.s.download.windowsupdate.com.
Any existing links that use the old format should automatically redirect, so there is no need for changes to be made to documentation, websites and blog posts.
