Cloud gaming seems to be the next big thing in the gaming industry and while Google Stadia is one of them, Logitech G Cloud has just launched its own Android-powered handheld that is meant to enhance your mobile cloud-gaming experience and take things to the next for you.

The handheld gaming console is expected to debut as soon as Oct. 18th and it’s already being spotted on Amazon US with a US$350 price tag even though the pre-order price is under the US$300 price mark.

The device looks a bit similar to the usual handheld game consoles we’re most familiar with such as the Nintendo Switch.

Logitech built this one for Xbox Cloud Gaming and Nvidia GeForce Now for cloud streaming while also being usable for the Xbox app and Steam Link for local streaming via your console and PC.

It’s also possible to download streaming services too such as Google Stadia and Amazon Luna. In fact, typically anything that works on the Android platform works on the Logitech G Cloud.

It comes with the Google Play Store and it’s however powered by the Snapdragon 720G chipset which in my opinion shouldn’t be bad for gaming at all.

And if you’re looking to locally install your games, you’ve got 4GB of RAM in combination with 64GB of internal storage that can be expanded via a microSD card.

One of the key features of the Logitech G Cloud is its long-lasting battery that can serve you for a whopping 12 hours thanks to its massive 23.1Wh onboard battery that can be recharged from 0% to 100% within 2.5 hours using a USB-C port.

To enhance your gaming experience, Logitech included a 3.5mm headphone jack with this one but if you’re into wireless headphones, then you get Bluetooth 5.1 support and stereo speakers.

The display is a 7-inch LCD panel with a 1080p resolution and 450 nits of brightness. This definitely degrades the console into an indoor device since the display might be easily overpowered by direct sunlight if you try using it outdoors.

The display has support for multi-touch though and a 60Hz refresh rate which is definitely disappointing considering the fact that there are literally smartphones under the same price brackets as this handheld console that offer better specifications including a high refresh rate and better brightness.

Another reason why this is disappointing is due to the fact that cloud gaming isn’t always efficient for HRR gaming even though the GeForce Now offers support for 120fps streaming.

To connect the Logitech G Cloud to the internet, you’ll be needing a WiFi connection and thanks to its Snapdragon 720G chipset, it allows it to connect with Wi-Fi 5 (ac) but not 6 (ax), direct 4G, or 5G.

The device has both left and right analog joysticks, L & R analog triggers, two bumpers, a D-pad, and an A/B/X/Y button. However, you can also remap your buttons using the software however you want.

The device weighs about 463g which makes it much lighter than the Steam Deck which also has a 7-inch display and weighs about 669 grams but the Nintendo Switch OLED is even lighter at 398 grams while having the same 7-inch display.
