With the iOS 14 already out officially and other amazing devices such as the iPad Air 4, Apple Watch Series 6 and a series of other Apple services the only thing yet to be seen is the next-gen iPhone 12 which had been in the nwes causign lots of rumors and speculations.
I’d say the fact that the device’s release even got a little bit of a push back further gave it time to be a grand slamming device by the time it will finally make it’s debut later on this year probably October as predicted by many leakers but that’s the point of this post.
There is a recent report made by the media outlet AppleInsider which says that Apple will announce the iPhone 12 on October 13, with pre-orders beginning October 16 which if true, that falls to the second week of the month and will prove other earlier predictions to be true as to when Apple will launch the device.
AppleInsider wrote in a blog post that:

Apple is anticipated to be holding a second special event in the not too distant future, but it is unclear when it will take place. According to a tipster contacting AppleInsider, Apple will be holding the event on Tuesday, October 13, with preorders starting the following Friday, October 16.
The tip was sent by someone self-identified as working for a carrier in the Netherlands. While there is no concrete evidence corroborating the event date itself, the message’s IP address is one within a range controlled by a carrier’s corporate network.

But there is definitely no evidence to back the fact that Apple will release the device by the said date but this had been the case from different rumors and reputable leaksters such as Jon Prosser whose date prediction too falls within that timeframe.
According to this, the iPhone 12 release is expected to commence on October 12th with pre-orders starting a week later with shipping around October 19th.
Another thing which is worth mentioning is the fact that the iPhone 12 Pro and the 12 Pro Max which are the premium variants of the iPhone 12 series (there will be four models according to leaks) will not be released the same week as the base models and Jon Prosser stated that pre-order and shipping for both device will take place later in November but there wasn’t an actual date to cement this claim.
And in the case of Apple Insider, there seems to b a little bit of a correlation between the two speculations whereby the timing of the iPhone 12 “Pro” models will not be released when the base models will be. Meanwhile there was a report in the UK about one of it’s big carriers EE telling its employees that Apple’s 5G iPhone was “days away” during a presentation which features Apple’s head of services.
But it’s probably going to be possible that Apple will make the iPhone 12 a 5G smartphone considering the fact that the new A14 Bionic chipset just got even much more better and far more capable with the iOS 14 further revamped this could be the right time when the 5G network is already making waves with nearly all Android OEMs having it on their new devices.
