A recent report from Bloomberg has it that Apple has suspended its relationship with Pegatron based on its misclassification of student workers as well as breaking its Code of Conduct for suppliers.
In the report, Apple was quoted as saying “Pegatron misclassified the student workers in their program and falsified paperwork to disguise violations of our Code, including allowing students to work nights and/or overtime and in some cases to perform work unrelated to their major.”
According to Bloomberg, Apple has placed the supplier on probation until it finishes taking corrective action. Pegatron which is a Taiwan-based original supplier is a rival to Foxconn another major Apple supplier both of which have their headquarters situated in Taiwan while they have their factories in China as well as other countries.
Both companies have faced numerous accusations of forcing their workers to work excessively longer hours as well unfavorable working conditions.
