Yesterday, Huawei unveiled a number of products during its annual event at its headquarters in Shenzhen, China. One of the biggest release is the HarmonyOS which is aimed to becoming the IoT standard for all gadgets made by the Chinese tech company.
But it wasn’t only the new operating system that was unveiled, the company also release a number of devices such as its new MateView and MateView GT monitors, the MatePad Pro and also a number of smartphones such as the Mate40 Pro 4G, Mate X2, Mate 40E and the Nova 8 Pro all which are now officially available for purchase in China.
The announcement was based on on its existing smartphones but hasn’t release its much expected P50 series which is long overdue but the company’s spokesperson Wang Chenglu made it known the delay is due to reasons everyone is aware of – speaking of the current sanctions the company has to endure from the US government.
The cool thing about the new device release is that all of the aforementioned smartphones will run the new HarmonyOS (HongMeng OS as its called in China) out of the box.

The devices are all 4G capable which hint the fact that the new operating system might not offer support for the current 5G technology – for now. We’ll have to wait for an update to see support for this in the near future.
Aside the change of operating system, nothing is different in all the devices as they all bear the specifications they had when they were released late 2020.
The Mate 40 Pro 4G and Mate X2 4G for example being the high-end flagship devices on the list both feature the HiSilicon Kirin 9000 chipset and comes with an 8GB of RAM and 26GB of internal storage.
Then there is the less powerful Mate 40E 4G which is powered by the Kirin 990E and then the Nova 8 Pro 4G also powered by the Kirin 985 chipset.
There are also existing devices that will offer support for the HarmonyOS 2.0 as the company aims to port the system on over 200 million smartphones and 100 million devices before the end of the year.
The 4G HarmonyOS-powered smartphones announced yesterday have all started on pre-order in China and can be found on popular e-commerce platforms in the country.
