The Huawei P-Series are meant for advanced photography while the Mate-series are targeted at video-centric users which the previous generation Mate 30 series was up to. There were in fact movies shot entirely on the Mate 30 Pro back in 2019 when it was released and there could be much more to expect from the Mate 40 Pro in 2020.
The newest report we got is that the release of the device will premier by October 22nd and the lineup will include three devices which are Mate 40 – base model then a Mate 40 Pro which is the high-end model and lastly a much high-end Mate 40 Pro+ which is the “Ultra high-end” variant much like the P40 Pro+ back earlier this year.
The report further suggest that the the higher variant, the Mate 40 Pro could sport a Hexa camera setup with a professional grade video recording capacity which could make it much more better than the previous-gen Mate 30 Pro.
There was recently an official teaser promotional image of the device released in China which offered a little glimpse about what users should expect when the device finally make it out. The device has an octagonal shaped rear camera module which was further leaked by a reputable Twitter leaker by the username @Rodent950 who shared an enhanced picture of the illustration that focuses more on the six rear camera setups.

The specifications of the camera is yet unknown but the leaker further suggested the Hexa camera setup might have a 108MP primary sensor with periscope zoom lens as well.
Furthermore, the leakster also shared another image on Twitter, which stated that the new Mate 40 Pro / Mate 40 Pro Plus will feature professional grade video recording.

He stated that, “With Mate 40 pro/pro+, you no longer need to carry that massive video camera with you and still get the same stunning results.”
Unfortunately, these are still unconfirmed information at the moment. So take this report with a pinch of salt and stay tuned for more updates and the launch event, which we will be covering as well.
But it’s also worth noting that Huawei is king in making bleeding-edge technology and the company always like to be the first at doing things. Though the company is having a tough time in some major market around the world, the company will probably just rely much at its home market to make its sales which can further help it advance its course even further.
But as for other rumors about the Mate 40 series shipping with the Harmony OS out of the box, this is unconfirmed yet so we might just have to wait and see what the company is up to.
