Newest report has it General Motora and Honda are collaborating on creating two electric cars according to an official statement from the companies on Thursday.

The cars will then be sold under the “Honda” branding in the US and Canada but the production won’t go on sale until the year 2024 which is a quite long time from here.

The EV is expected to be built on top of the GM’s vehicle architecture which is lso going to be powered by the company’s Ultium batteries but the interiors and exteriors will be designed by Honda as well as the “platform will be engineered to support Honda’s driving character,” the companies said in a statement.

Another thing is that the new Honda Electric Vehicles will benefit from GM’s OnStar connected-car services which will be integrated into the Japanese automaker’s HondaLink suite.

With that, Honda will be able to make use of the GM’s hands-free advanced driver-assist technology available which translates to the inclusion of the Super Cruise on these Honda EVs.

This won’t be the first time Honda will be testing the EV market as the company had recently worked on the Fit EV as well as the Clarity EV in the US.

The automaker also sells the cute-as-a-button Honda E abroad, but has largely spent its electrification efforts on hybrid vehicles, like the new CR-V.

GM on the other hand has planned to ramp up its EV production as the company had confirmed it’s plans by early March to launch a number of electric vehicles for the Cadillac, Buick, Chevrolet and GMC brands.

With this partnership, both companies are surely heading somewhere great together. As we all know, Honda is great with both interiors and exteriors of cars which makes them a really good partner with GM making the architectures as well as batteries and systems for these cars.
