Since the iOS 14 update, Apple has included the new Home screen widgets which allows user to customize their iPhone’s screens with whatever they so please and this had prompted different app developers to make good use of this feature which had always been very present in Android devices since forever.
Google is one of those taking advantage of this as the company now let you place your Google Photos app widget right on the home screen.
The new widgets are part of the version 5.16 update of the Google Photos which the company is rolling out to the App Store which you can certainly upgrade to to enjoy the utility to the max. The original report note that they will surface “memories” every time you use your phone’s Home screen.

So user can add the “Your Memories” widget right on their iPhone’s screen. The widget comes in various sizes which are 2 x 2, 4 x 2, and 4 x 4 and it will show “recently highlighted photos and videos and special moments from previous years”

It’s basically the stories-esque carousel that Google added last year to the top of the Photos app. The bottom-right corner of each widget notes how many years ago an image was captured, with the app sticking to a “this week” time range
Google taking advantage of the new update of the iOS 14 and its feature will be a pretty decent thing to have and considering the fact that the iOS 14’s stable version had only been available for just 5 weeks, Google which is usually slow in updating its applications on iOS platforms seems to have taken a different turn this time around which will be pleasing to Google photo users on iPhone.
Google has been able to get the updated Google Photos app out the door just in time for everyone to install it on their new iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro – both of which go on sale in just a few hours even though sales had already begun n China earlier today due to time difference.
