Huawei makes great smartphones, there is no doubt about that. It’s mobile devices are also powered by the world most popular operating system, Android which is licensed by Google to Huawei and other big bands all around the globe.
But since the company had been added to the Trade Blacklist of the United State, Huawei had lost another major value which is it’s Android license as Alphabet, Inc pulls the plug and suspends all business ties with the Giant Chinese tech brand for now. The effect of the license withdrawal will also include the transfer back of Hardware, Software and Technical services rendered by Google to Huawei.
According to reports, Huawei will still be able to use the publicly available resources via Open Source Licensing and even a Google spokesperson confirmed that owners of the current Huawei phones will still have access to updates and Google play store which is a good news for those that just purchased an Huawei smartphone in recent times.
For users of our services, Google Play and the security
protections from Google Play Protect will continue to function on
existing Huawei devices. Huawei will only be able to use the public
version of Android and will not be able to get access to proprietary
apps and services from Google

For the future, if the status quo remains unchanged, Huawei could only use AOSP versions with no Google Play Store, Gmail, and YouTube apps. This means that the move could dramatically impact all of Huawei’s smartphone business outside of China.
While it was rumored in the past that Huawei was building it’s own Operating system that it could use to replace Android just in case things like this happens, we wouldn’t conclude how far Huawei is willing to go with this. And such tough restriction could affect the sales of devices in countries that partners with the US as the US President, Donald Trump had persuded other countries to join the US in banning Huawei products. Some drastic actions needs to be taken else, Huawei could lose it’s long credibility which it had built in many years.
