Former Huawei subsidiary, Honor announced back in October its X30 series smartphone based on Android, and the device is made up of three models – Honor X30i, X30, and X30 Max all of which got released today.

The devices offer mid-range specifications and nothing too extraordinary. You’ll get things like a 5G network, a nice display, fast storage, and an affordable price tag.

The main Honor X30 comes with a 6nm Snapdragon 695 chipset that keeps the device running blazing fast and a large 6.8-inch IPS LCD display with a 1080 x 2388 pixels resolution. There is of course a 120Hz refresh rate to convince you to make the purchase.

In terms of storage, you can get the model with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage or even 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

In the camera department, you get a 48MP primary sensor with a 2MP macro and 2MP depth sensors all built within a ring-shaped camera module.

There’s a tiny punch hole cutout centered below the earpiece housing the 16MP selfie shooter.

And in terms of power, the Honor X30 uses a big 4,800mAh battery that can be charged from 0% to 80% within 30 minutes thanks to its blazing-fast 66W super-fast charger.

As for the software, its Magic UI 5.0 is based on Android 11 while the device is available in four colors – Black, Silver, Blue, and Gold.

Back to the price tag, the device costs about US$235 or CNY 1,499 for the base model with 6GB RAM/128GB Storage and the price could get as much as US$361 or CNY 2,299 for the high-end variant with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.

Sales are expected to start in China as soon as Dec. 24th but there isn’t any informative detail on international release yet unless you want to import the device to your region/country.

Honor Play 30

Another mid-range device announced is the popular Honor Play 30 Plus with a nice 6.7-inch display and a trimmed down 90Hz refresh rate. Its display still has a high resolution though but compared to the aforementioned Honor X30, you’ll be getting a slightly trimmed-down device here.

In terms of capacity, its system on chip is based on MediaTek’s Dimensity 700 chipset while the primary snapper is a 13MP main sensor with a 2MP depth sensor.

The selfie cam comes in at a mere 5MP and is housed in a teardrop notch.

But the Honor Play 30 has a slightly bigger batter compared to the X30 mentioned above.

Here, you’ll be getting a 5,000mAh battery but with a slower 22.5W fast charging.

In the software area, the device runs the same Android 11 OS laced with the comapny’s Magic UI 5.0 skin.

As for the price tag, it’s very much cheaper at just US$173 or CNY 1,099 for the base 4GB RAM and 128GB storage model while the high-end variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage comes with a US$235 or CNY235 price tag.

Open sales in China are scheduled for December 31.
