Samsung will reportedly release its new Galaxy F42 smartphone tomorrow September 29th in India. The device was recently spotted on the Google Play Console hinting at some key specifications about the device.
FYI, the Galaxy F42 will be a rebranded Galaxy Wide5 which was released earlier this month in South Korea, and depending on the region where it will be sold, the branding may continue to change. For example, it could be called Galaxy Buddy in another region where Samsung plans to release the device.
Being a mid-range smartphone, this means the device will have features such as a plastic back, LCD panel, and moderate camera systems. Also, the price-point shouldn’t be too exorbitant considering the target market but below is a brief breakdown of things we expect to see on the Galaxy F42 smartphone.
Design of the device
First of all, this is a 5G smartphone which means the “5G” aspect is no longer a big deal, and aside from that, the back of the device will have a plastic minimal design with a squared triple camera.

As far as the front of the device is concerned, there should be a 6.6-inch LCD panel with 1080p resolution and then a “V-shaped” notch.
There will be a 90Hz refresh rate with a minimal bezel around the device with a slightly big chin.
Cameras on the Samsung Galaxy F42 5G
In the camera department, there shouldn’t be anything too surprising here despite being a triple setup. But the technical specification includes a 64MP primary sensor with an ultra-wide range of 115 degrees and the ability to shoot at a max resolution of 5MP.
Then there is a secondary 2MP depth sensor while the front-facing camera is 8MP with the capacity to record 1080P videos @30Fps.
Hardware Specs
What you get includes a MediaTek Dimensity 700 5G processor along with Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. The chipset has a 2.77 Gbps 5G modem (sub-6) with support for 12 bands, plus Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1 support.
The phone packs a large 5,000 mAh battery that can be filled up at 15W. The charging speed is unconfirmed at the moment though. It comes with a USB Type-C 2.0 port, a headphone jack, and an SD card slot. In terms of storage option, we’re expecting at least 8GB of RAM even though the report says there could be a 6GB RAM variant while storage could reach 128GB and could also support MicroSD card for storage expansion.
In terms of color options, there could be Black, White, and Blue.
Software
Out of the box, the Galaxy F42 5G should run Android 11 OS but it will be a great thing if we see Android 12 considering the fact that it’s already in a stable version. Samsung could also spice the UI up with its One UI 3.1 skin to brighten up the devices.
Pricing & Availability
There probably won’t be any grand event for the release of the Galaxy F42 5G in India but it will be released via Flipkart as well as Samsung’s own official website starting on Wednesday, Sept. 29th and the price could range between IN₹20,999 for the base model with 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage while the high-end model could be priced at about IN₹22,999.
