The good news is that the Epic’s Houseparty app will be integrated with the Fortnite game which will allow gamers to engage via vide chat while playing the game.
This is one of the company’s plan to equip Fortnite with features which are meant to keep people on the games for a longer period of time. Other report stated that Epic is trying to make Fortnite into the metaverse which is essentially a universe of virtual worlds which are interwoven into each other.
The Houseparty video chat is available on Fortnite but only for PC players or those using video game consoles like the PlayStation 5 or 4. But this is now going to be available as well to users on mobile platforms such as iOS and Android with the Houseparty app installed which will be connected to their Houseparty accounts on their Epic Game accounts in order to get started.
The fact that you can’t do it on Xbox devices yet shows that Sony gained a few things when it invested $250 million into Epic and began what Epic CEO Tim Sweeney called a “special relationship.”
When the accounts are linked up, a Fortnite player can then start the game either on their PC or on their PlayStation game console and then position their mobile device in order to fully frame themselves in the picture and then talk to their friends while they play the game.
There are some safety measure in place to keep people safe and that includes Fortnite cropping to focus on the player face as well as getting a Fortnite-themed virtual background which so restricting just your face to be shown to the other players or whoever is watching you from the other side.
Parents can turn off Houseparty video chat within Fortnite’s parental controls. Houseparty video chat on Fortnite is designed for ages 13 and older since you must be at least 13 years old to create a Houseparty account.
And as for the metaverse, Epic Games announced that it was acquiring the technology of Hypersense which is the company that developed the real-time facial animation technology.
With this in place, the company will be able to animate digital cartoon characters in order to make them look real. This is meant to help people express themselves using an avatar as a virtual representation of themselves. The production can become more accessible due to the acquisition. The company also acquired 3Lateral and Cubic Motion in order to create the virtual human representation.
