For the current feud between Epic Games and Apple, the Fortnite developer made a parody of Apple’s 1984 ad which ended with the hashtag #FreeFortnite which was a result of Apple taking down the game after it was reported that Epic Games was offering discount for those who downloaded the game outside the App Store prompting Epic Games to sue the tech giant.
As the legal battle continues, the game developer continues to take a jab at Apple by holding a #FreeFortnite cup on August 23rd and the company stated that iOS users will be left out of the Chapter 2 Season 3 when it finally rolls out Season 4 by August 27th for players on other platforms.
This is basically Epic Games being nice enough to want all people on all systems and platforms to play together before they no longer will.
The CEO of the company Tim Sweeney who had always been a long time critic of Apple’s App Store policy of taking 30% cut of in-app purchases. The company fought against this practice then began offering Fortnite to users on iOS discounts for purchases they make directly from Epic instead of through the Game itself which is linked to the App store.

This attempt was seen as a violation of the store policy prompting Apple to pull the game off it’s platform. This led to legal tussle between the two as Epic claimed Apple is out to retaliate and also disable it’s development access.
But the point Epic Games is trying to make is to reduce the amount of percentage cut Apple is taking on it’s games. Meanwhile Apple had notified Epic that it will terminate it’s developer accounts and cut the company off it’s iOS and Mac development tools by August 28th prompting Epic to file another law suit stating this move will crush the company totally.
Since users cannot sideload apps to their iPhones, the company’s tournament features prizes intended to encourage players to use devices from brands aside Apple which includes AlienWare gaming PC, Galaxy Tab S7, OnePlus 8, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One X and Nintendo Switch all to top players.
If you’re interested in participating, you can check the in-game Compete tab where you can see what time the Cup will start in wherever region you’re from. If you opt in, you have four hours after the commencement of the game to make your way to the top in order to win any of the devices mentioned above and the Tart Tycoon Outfit: which is a skin featuring the Big Brother-like figure with an apple head that Epic used in it’s 1984 ad parody.
