After the sales of some Google glass units were halted last summer, its been quiet long since the headset made any news headlines. But now there happens to be rumours of an enterprise-focused version of the headset. It appears a pawn shop in San Francisco’s got one of the device. Also online multivendor website eBay listing shows a few pictures of the headset which has a some physical changes that makes it different from the Explorer edition released in the year 2013. The listing was first spotted by 9to5Google.
The newly caught version has a foldable hinge so that it can be folded like a normal eye glasses. Also beside it is a proprietary power and data port that makes it look more like Apple’s MagSafe technology than the Micro USB port used on the normal version released by Google inc.
It’s like an episode of Pawn Stars
Based on some rumoured sources, there is a larger prism display on the glass which helps it to provide more and quicker information at a speedy rate and at once. Its also said that there is an LED indicator that turns on when the camera is recording. There are more expectation from the enterprise edition of the wearable; like longer battery life, faster processor, power efficiency and 5GHz Wi-Fi support just that those functions cannot be confirmed via a mere photograph. Other expectations include being water prove so as to be a suitable headset for work.
Just that its not very open what the manufacturer hopes to do with the version of the wearable which is quite similar to the original Explorer edition that was placed on shelves for $1,500. Although the enterprise edition is also reported to be sold only in some business environments with the ideas that companies will provide their own custom software for proprietary tasks. Its also important to note the fact that Google places its Glass units under its Project Aura group, led by Nest’s Tony Fadell. Other reports has it that the glass has no display at all just that the company still own the final say after keeping things quite out of the public.
But its still unknown how such a glass would make it to a Pawn shop. A representative for A to Z Pawnbrokers, which has multiple locations around the San Francisco Bay Area, confirmed that it was selling the headset on eBay, but could not provide information on where it came from.
