So I stumbled upon this online about NASA embarking on a major mission by 202. A mission to colonize our neighboring planet, Mars. The big story about this is that NASA also wants your name to be among the historic names they’ll be sending over to represent the Human Race.
The mission will be another big leap to exploring more of our galaxy which in my view is another big advancement in our modern world. The Rover NASA will be sending over to the Red Planet will be equipped with a variety of tools and instruments some of which will drill into the crust and collect dirt samples as well as detecting whether we’re the only ones here or we have Alien neighbors as well.
Also, the mission is to examine everything on the planet and get samples of almost all of it. Things such as signs of past water to microbes, minerals in the soil and other important natural things would be examined with samples brought back to earth.
Your name could be part of the journey. Until September 30, you can always send your Name to NASA and engineers at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) will etch your name onto a silicon chip with an electron beam which means the rover carrying your name around while performing it’s primary function.

Of course, the etching will be tiny. At about one-thousandth the width of a human hair, the size will let NASA etch more than a million names on just one of the rover’s chips.
This will not be the first time NASA will be doing this. Back in 2008, NASA allowed “Passengers” this way on board the Mars 2018 mission as well as when it sent the OSIRIS-REx spacecraft to Asteroid Bennu
And if you send your name in, you get an official boarding pass to commemorate your trip. You even get frequent flier miles, about 504 million kilometres of them, but good luck trying to redeem those with your next flight out of your country.
