Just early this month, Huawei officially release its own proprietary cross-platform operating system called HarmonyOS (HongMengOS in China). The platform is dubbed a distributed operating system which is designed to work on several devices ranging wearable gadgets, mobile device to smart home appliance.

News about the operating system has started way back since 2018 and became more prevalent in the media when the company got nailed to the entity list in the US.

The initial release of the HarmonyOS worked on smart TVs but the Chinese tech giant made it known the system can run on multiple devices across board therefore creating a central system whereby everything can be easily controlled and managed.

Since there is no clear light yet at the end of Huawei’s dilemma, its now looking to port its new operating system on its smartphones – at least for its local market where its losing its grip as local competitors like Xiaomi and Oppo continues to rise on the table.

Earlier reports has it that the new operating system will support devices with up to 128MB of RAM – which are usually smart wearable gears and small IoT smart devices however, the company has continue to strengthen the operating system and will be able to function in devices with up to 4GB of RAM and those includes smartphones.

With that said, there have been rumors about what device will support the new operating system and one of such list is what we’ll be exploring on this post.

Earlier rumor has it that Huawei plan to port over 100 million devices before the end of the year. Also do note that Huawei sold off its share in Honor and no one know the long-term plan both companies have to collaborate in terms of using the HarmonyOS.
