When the former US President Donald Trump got axed off major social networking platforms such as Twitter and Facebook, there were several news and reports that the 45th president will make a comeback via his own platform and after months of waiting, the result seems to not meet our expectation.

Apparently, the president has put up a website that list contents in a chronological order with a Twitter design aesthetics but instead of being an actual social network, all the contents seems to be owned by the former President himself making it seem like a daily weblog.

Also rather than being an entirely new website, it’s a section on his existing website with the big title “Save America: President Donald J. Trump”.

While there is a button to contribute to the web contents, which then open a donation page to join “2021 TRUMP FOUNDING MEMBER“.

However, people can sign up for news alerts via their email address and there is also a heart icon which is supposed to function like Facebook/Twitter “Likes” but it doesn’t work.

“Generally, sharing content from the website reference is permitted as long as the material does not otherwise the Twitter Rules,” a Twitter spokesperson told The Verge on Tuesday and my attempt to share a post to Twitter went through. Facebook on the other hand did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Going through the list of posts on the page, there are contents that dates as far back as March 24th and the former president also made a video where he called his platform “a place to speak freely and safely, straight from the desk of Donald J. Trump.”

 According to Fox News, Trump will “eventually” be able to communicate with his supporters directly, although it’s not clear how that will happen. Trump’s press office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The new announcement happened just a day after a Facebook’s Oversight Board announced that Trump may not be allowed on the platform following his account being axed back in January over comments deemed as inciting violence during the US Capitol Hill attack.

The platform appears to have been built by Campaign Nucleus, a digital services company founded by Trump’s former campaign manager Brad Parscale.

There were rumors that the former president might be eyeing a re-election in 2024 even though he never made any official statement about this happening.

But even if that will be the case, the fact remains that he needs a platform to keep in touch with his followers through the internet and since his communication mediums are reduced, there is need to go elsewhere.

Parler might have been an ideal place for the former president to continue his reach but the platform doesn’t seems to be in a consistent state currently after it also got booted off the internet – literally back in January
