In the past, Zoom was the only one dominating as it allows you to make use of a virtual background during a video conference session but Cisco’s WebEx is the new to join the integration of this feature into it’s core system – The Cisco webex virtual background can be a blur or an entire replacement.
You can now either blur out your background or just outright replace it with one of the Webex’s preset background images presented to you.
Webex is quite old in the video conferencing business compared to newbies like Zoom which saw a sudden spike in it’s user base during the Covid-19 stay-at-home order. Webex on the other hand was acquired by Cisco back in 2007 for a fee worth US$3.2 billion and it was focused mainly as a business to business video communication technology.
Zoom, the most popular videoconferencing app of the moment, and rivals Google Meet and Microsoft Teams all allow users to upload their own custom images for background displays.

Meanwhile in terms of numbers, Microsoft Team and Google Meet have been catching up with Zoom pretty fast enough with the former growing it’s Team app daily users to about 75 million active users according to the company’s statement back in April while Google on the other hand has grown more than 100 million daily users.
Webex too has seen a good growth in the number of users flocking onto the platform on the daily as more people are working remotely from around the world while schools have also been closed down leading to people literally choosing the internet as the best place to meet as the COVID-19 had sent the world to the internet instead.
The new Cisco Webex virtual background will allow you cover up what’s in the back say your room is messed up or you just want to quickly cover up your cat messing up the house during an important meeting.
