Newest report has it that Elon Musk’s tunneling and transportation company Boring Company is planning to kickstart another project in Austin based on new job postings.
The company was able to land a deal back in 2019 to help construct as well as operate a “people mover” for the Las Vegas Convention Center made a tweet on Monday about potential hiring in the city of Austin.
Parts of the jobs being posted on the company’s website includes Engineering, accountant as well as business development which points to the fact that the Boring Company might just be heading for a permanent stay in Austin at least based on suggestions due to the kind of jobs being posted.
Do not forget that Tesla back in July picked a site near Austin for its next U.S. factory which is a huge for to five million-square-foot of land worth about US$1.1 billion for its plant where it would assemble its Cybertruck, and also its Model Y, Model 3 as well as the Tesla Semi heavy duty vehicles.
Musk described the future factory as an “ecological paradise,” with a boardwalk and bike lanes and where the public will be welcome. It’s unclear if the first customer of The Boring Company will be Tesla.
The company help in building tunnels for its customers around different areas which includes pedestrians, freight, utilities and even the so-called Loop Service.
The company describes the Loop as an underground public transportation system in which passengers are transported via autonomous vehicles at up to 150 miles per hour through tunnels between stations.
The company says the autonomous vehicles are Tesla Model S, 3 and X. (It should be noted that while Tesla vehicles do have robust advanced driver assistance systems, they are not considered by government bodies such as the U.S. DOT as fully autonomous.)
This same Loop is what the Las Vegas Convention Center officials wanted with the contract it had with the Boring Company stating that this service should be able to help transport attendees through two 0.8 miles underground tunnels in Tesla vehicles.
