The story was put out officially on the company’s website early today stating that FKA Kanye West has penned a deal with Parlement Technologies to acquire Parler, the social media platform that went viral during the Jan. 6th riot at the US Capitol over Trump’s loss.
The platform has positioned itself as a conservative platform that doesn’t censor “free speech” compared to other social media platforms such as Twitter or Facebook.
Parler is home to many right-wing conservative speakers and popular figures which has led to many calling it an eco-chamber for the right-wing activist who got booted out of mainstream platforms.
Remember Mr. West got his Twitter and Instagram account locked just this past week over anti-Semitic comments due to the controversies that ensued over his “White Live Matter” t-shirt.

And as for the terms of the deals, nothing has been officially disclosed from both party. However, both Mr. West and Parlement Technology said in a statement “Ye has become the richest Black man in history through music and apparel and is taking a bold stance against his recent censorship from Big Tech, using his far-reaching talents to further lead the fight to create a truly non-cancelable environment.”
“In a world where conservative opinions are considered to be controversial we have to make sure we have the right to freely express ourselves,” West said in a statement.
Parler was founded back in 2018 during the “big purge” when many right-wing activists and commentators were ousted from mainstream social media platforms.
Even though the platform threw its arms wide open at anyone willing to come on-board irrespective of their political alignments, the majority of those who signed up on the platform were mostly pro-Trump.
The company lost its web host during the Jan. 6th riot when a lot of rioters stormed the US Capitol. This led to both Google and Apple removing the app from their app stores until the company was able to redress all the issues before being allowed back.
The company’s CEO George Farmer also made it known that Mr. West’s acquisition of the company “will change the world, and change the way the world thinks about free speech. Ye is making a groundbreaking move into the free speech media space and will never have to fear being removed from social media again.”
In the Twitter post that led to his account’s suspension, West said “I’m going death [sic] con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE” and claimed that he couldn’t be anti-Semitic because Black people “are Jew also.” He also said he had been “toyed with” by the Jewish people.
Both Mr. West and Parlement intend to enter into a definitive purchase agreement and expect to close the deal during the fourth quarter of 2022.
The terms of the proposed transaction would include ongoing technical support from Nashville, Tenn.-based Parlement and the use of private cloud services via Parlement’s private cloud and data center infrastructure.
Mr. West has had his fair share of controversies this year alone apart from the dramas that stemmed from his divorce from Kim Kardashian after accusing her of not letting him know the whereabouts of his children to his newest issue with Adidas and Gap over retail partnership for his Yeezy brand and so much more.
Also, do not forget that the US former president Donald Trump who also got all of his social media accounts taken away started his own social media company called Trump Media & Technology Group whose main product is Truth Social.
The app is now listed on both Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
I hope to see how well Parler will do under the leadership of Kanye West and hopefully, the company can further compete with other big social media giants because healthy rivalry and options can be good for the entire masses.
