Rumors that Apple might eventually switch all of its devices to utilize OLED panels by 2022 may have just been dashed according to a new report based on a new investor note from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo via 9t05Mac.
With that said, Apple will reportedly continue with the usage of IPS LCD panels even in 2022 on its iPad Air lineups. One of the main reasons for this change is due to performance and cost not being able to meet the company’s requirements.
There were rumors as early as March that stated that Apple could make use of OLED panels on its future affordable iPad Air tablets but the new findings might just say otherwise.
It wasn’t until 2020 that Apple began using OLED technology on all of its iPhone line-ups compared to the previous years when the company only implement the technology on its high-end devices while the lower-tier models often sport IPS displays.

Further reports point to the fact that Apple may launch an 11-inch iPad Pro with mini-LED as well as working on a foldable device for its future products.
